I've been teaching German for over 20 years. I've studied every learning method out there and put the best of what works into my courses.
I built SmarterGerman because German isn't actually that hard - if someone explains it to you properly. My goal is to give you the clearest, most efficient path from A1 to C1.
My method maps German grammar onto patterns English speakers already know. You understand the logic first, then practise until it becomes intuitive. That's when things start to click.
What can't be understood has to be memorized - but I also teach you simple memory techniques that make even that a Kinderspiel.

01. Logic First
German grammar has rules. Real rules. I explain the WHY behind every rule so you understand the system - not just memorize exceptions.
02. Pattern Recognition
I map German structures onto English patterns you already know. Your brain makes the connection faster because it's not starting from zero.
03. Real Language
No 'the owl is in the kitchen'. You learn vocabulary and sentences you'll actually use - in Berlin, in a German office, in real life.
